Really love this place for its quirky decor and location. We had a huge, super clean and well-appointed room looking over the harbour. Despite the busy road in front, the noise of the traffic wasn’t a problem thanks to the double glazing. As others have mentioned, the supply of nibbles, coffees, soft drinks etc is generous, and the host Steve charming. Thoroughly recommend for anyone who likes something off the beaten path.
We had the loveliest host, super hospitable, all in all the BEST experience!!
I have stayed at this hotel only one night, however I can truly say that the rooms although old (just like the whole building) were very clean and well prepared for the guests. There was plenty of snacks and drinks in the room and even a complimentary breakfast! The owners are extremely lovely and helpful. Me and my mom felt very welcome. The location is amazing as well, it literally takes about 20 minutes walk to the white cliffs of dover. If you were ever to come to Dover this is the best, affordable place to stay.
Cliff Hotel is a quaint, nice, cosy, well located, homely hotel. The rooms, bathrooms and toilets are clean. Rooms have lighting. Kitchen is clean. Heating works well. Cupboards, washbasin in the room is good. Bed is clean with clean towels. The dinning area is also clean. There is free tea, coffee and bread for breakfast. The owners and staff of the hotel were extremely warm, helpful and great hosts. They really took care of me and it was an extremely homely experience to stay at the Cliff hotel. If one has to go to the cliffs, it is walking distance and the main town is 10 minutes walk only, or even lesser time. Highly recommend the hotel, especially for tourists and women who want a safe place to stay.
We LOVED it! This hotel clearly stems from the glory days of Dover. The owner's welcome was very warm, and the room was spacious, light and very clean. We really appreciated all the complementary snacks, drinks, sweets and fruit in the room. The en-suite bathroom had a hot shower with nice water pressure. The white cliffs of Dover are just a short walk away and absolutely spectacular. Yes, the hotel is a school example of what we call 'vergane glorie' in Dutch, but this mainly made us feel very nostalgic and curious about Dover's and the hotel's past. We will definitely stay here again when take the ferry back home, and hopefully many more times in the future. We recommend everyone that values authenticity to come here as well!
Used as a pit stop for a day trip to Calais - this hotel was perfect for this. Dated decor which added to the charm of the place, comfy bed, more than adequate facilities managed by friendly staff. Highly recommended
The room was great had family of 4 in and loads of room nice on suite ..nice and clean Lots of nice bits fruit ..cearel Cans drinks in the fridge for the kids...l The manager was very helpful.. Its a older building and being renovated so look past the older reception.... Would definitely use again
I booked this as a single person getting an early ferry. It’s very old school and in need of renovation. However for my needs it was perfect. It was less than half the price of anything else in Dover, the location was perfect. It included free parking. The room was clean enough. It had 3 external showers, one of which had been renovated and was really nice. The owner was friendly and helpful. The room had a fridge with milk, snacks, crisps, a beer, a Tassimo coffee machine. Woke up and made some cereal and a nice coffee. The room was a good size, it had a sofa and a tv with WiFi. Within a 5 minute walk you can get to shops, restaurants etc. The best way I can explain it is, this isn’t the place to take your Mrs for a honeymoon weekend, but if you want somewhere to get your head down, it’s perfect.
